The Founding Father of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

I was recently looking through a box of old photos with the intention of sorting them into categories when I came across a photo of myself with Aaron Beck (the founding father of cognitive behaviour therapy). I had the privilege of meeting this lovely man (and dancing with him) at a CBT conference held in Manchester (UK) some years ago. As you can see from the photo, he was thoroughly enjoying himself on that dance floor! He died aged over 100 in 2021 but what a legacy he has left as cognitive behaviour therapy is now considered worldwide to be the most effective psychotherapy for treating depression and anxiety. After 20+ years working in New Zealand as a psychologist specialising in CBT, I can certainly vouch for the validity of this approach.
